The flashback...
One month before i wrote this poem...
Vacations! A short term relief between two engineering semisters! That was when four of us (Mugdha, Mugdha,Apoorva and me)decided to go to sinhagad. We were so tired of the routine college life. So, loitering in nature's lap during the early monsoons was a great respite. We reached there at around 5.45 am. Having traversed the path many times before, all of us were well versed with the best route up! We started off....
It was a week day (Friday i think). So we were the only group. The refreashers' stalls on the way were also closed that day. We climbed only with some water with us. There was just enough light so that we could make out the way. The sky was loaded with heavy dark clouds. Sinagad was under its majestic shade. We were eager to touch those clouds and sprinted up as quick as our legs could manage! Gradually the sun's rays penetrated the thick waterlogs and that was when one of the two Mugdhas ('pattu' we call her) said "Hey lets click photographs!". We had almost covered half the hill and the break was welcome! She was about to click on our smiling faces when she noticed something on the ridge....."Look at that!" she exclaimed awestruck. We all turned to see what she was pointing at ....."Woah", we yelled together.
The sun had just popped up from between the clouds and the clouds were frantically chasing its rays which made it look like the sunlight was hopping from one place to another. It was so quick! One moment this patch of the hill was bright and then the clouds masked it again. But the sun did not give up. It shifted to the next patch and so on..... About 5-7 min this struggle was on and then Sun chose to chase the adjacent hills which we could not see. It was a 'once in a blue moon' sight!!!!
Again we were under cloud cover. We resumed our trek. Now it was getting difficult as the hill was getting steeper. Still we managed a good pace. We were looking for the sun to turn up again but couldn't see it anywhere. Finally, we gave up and decided we must hurry to the top because, 'an hour should be more than enough to climb sinhagad', was the claim we made and we had crossed that hour already. Another reason was we could still see the clouds touch the mountain top! After half an hour we were there. Exhilarated and exhausted by our trek we grabbed at the 'masala taak' the man offered us as soon as we reached up. Once our pulse rate came back to normal, we glanced down to appreciate the height we had just scaled up. And there it was ..... the sun.... it enlightened the hill as well as our hearts although we were now 'in the clouds'!
