Mumbai -I (The bad side of IIT Powai)

We reached Mumbai by 1.30pm. Their check-in had to start at 2. So all of us were waiting for them to start the check in counter on the 'IIT Powai Roads', which means, inside campus but on the road. We finally got accommodation at 5 in the evening but...    Meanwhile :     I had informed a friend -Mihir who stays in Mumbai- that i was coming. He called up, "Hey where are you? Have you reached Mumbai?" By this time I was exhausted. "Yes,but they haven't provided accommodation yet. I'll give you a call when we get a room.", I said. It was 2.30 that time. At 3, our ACL (assistant contingent leader) came out shouting "Hey guys relax! Sit down on the road. We are not getting accommodation for atleast an hour from now! Their procedure is too slow." "Hey Neha, wait a minute!", I called out to her. Usually we call her 'Sardesai' but I was too tired that time to use that long name. "Is it ok if I go out of campus and come back

From A Child To A Man

Once in the evil world When it struggles to survive, Father tells him the trick To fly out of the hive. Let its wings strengthen It shall crave to learn to hunt. And yet again his father, Will oblige and teach the stunt. But, while he aces the tact He will develop the ability to decide. And then will not approach his father, To select in whom the prey should reside.

Water

This poem "The Sign of Water", relates to me in many ways. One which is very evident is I am an Aquarian, which is the sign of water. Ironically, I am very often repelled by water. The biggest and I think the only phobia in my life has been swimming! I went to the swimming tank everday, for a year when I was 10 and yet managed not to learn swimming. Isn't that incredible?            Aquarius as a sunsign has always intrigued me. I have always been very proud to be an aquarian and I think all the fellow aquarians will agree that our sunsign is one of the finest! But when I gave it a thought I realized that everyone of us have 'water' inside us. We are born with it. We have the energy, the transparency and the flow which manifest the traits of water. As kids we let it flow sporadically. We are not cognizant of  the strength and abilities in it. Then as we grow, we realize that unless we dam up this water inside us and direct it to the correct destination we cannot m

Examination Turmoil

Hello again! Before i go ahead with the sign of water and its connections with me i have to tell you about the highly eventful engineering exams this semister. Normally engineering exams are quite dull and redundant (both in matter and result). But this semister was host to so many extraordinary happenings that i have to narrate them. The Usual Scenario : Engineering students hardly know what their books contain until the PLs (preparatory leaves) begin. That is essentially 15 days before exams. Then there is this 'books to be bought' information transferred from one batch to next, based on questions generally asked in exams and books that cover all those answers. If not strictly followed these so called engineering textbooks can make your heart pump twice as fast, one day prior to exams. I experienced something of that sort during these exams! here you go... 15th Nov 2009 and onwards : PLs begin for us although college closed down on 1st. That is presumably obvious. So

The Sign of Water

There is a lot of water in me. Water that is flowing fast. It’s erratic and free. But highly influential and vast. Its destination is not known It is taking a random course Anything that comes in its way Is carried away with its force. Somewhere, I know that it needs to be directed It needs to find its goal.                                             For, waters with a destination are the ones ,worshipped And the others regret their own soul.

The Expression Elaborated!!!

Well! I am back after a long exam break! And trust me it has been back breaking! I will say more about how exams can be back breaking in the upcoming blogs but for now, the reference for the last posted poem (Thankyou) is due. During exams I gave a lot of thought to how I had come up with this poem. Finally i could recall the complete link of events...            School Days: Nasik: I was an extraordinarily silent person. Highly under-confident.Never looked in the eye while talking to anyone. There was a kind of self doubt in me all the time. Hardly shared anything with anyone. An under-confident introvert you could say! This nature of mine drew me into books and i started attempting to write what i felt. I din't share my work with anyone either. I think i was the embodiment of 'introvert'.            Then after school I came to Pune. This city transformed me. The warmth and love of people was overwhelming. It helped me come out of the nutshell. Just to give a small accoun

Thankyou...

Thoughts run helter–skelter In search of words to express Their benevolence. Words hither-tither wander Collecting the alphabet and Having its complete liscence. None of them knowing why the haste Have finally, reached what so long They have chased. And that is … THANKYOU!!!

Why an Asset?? ...

Well, there is no specific incident that inspired this poem. But it is a general observation. Friendship is an asset that everyone cherishes. The bond is impeccable. We share so much with friends. We know each others' good qualities. We are aware of the bad one's too. Yet, we superimpose them with our good ones to create a great ensemble. This is where friendship lies and strengthens. The more you adjust to each other better the bond becomes!       Then if you need to part ways, it doesn't really matter because the understanding between us is sturdy. You may realize that you need no prayers to come closer to GOD. 'Friendship' is one of the many other ways!

Every Individual’s asset…

First time you see that person Whom, you know nothing about, One of you has to break the ice And let its seeds sprout. Initially formal; gradually informal The talks change their track Together you laugh at a funny gig And create sound memories to look back. Trust comes with time Laugh may change to ‘cry’ But togetherness never perishes The friend is on whom you rely. Effortless, it has grown, Strong it has become, Needless of any proof you know, A long way it has come. Now, you may move on… Now, you may depart… That would not mar your friendship Stronger it would grow in your heart! Simple, growing, trustworthy, strong and indomitable… PRECISELY friendship!!! Coming up: Reference... look out for it

The flashback...

One month before i wrote this poem...             Vacations! A short term relief between two engineering semisters! That was when four of us (Mugdha, Mugdha,Apoorva and me)decided to go to sinhagad. We were so tired of the routine college life. So, loitering in nature's lap during the early monsoons was a great respite. We reached there at around 5.45 am. Having traversed the path many times before, all of us were well versed with the best route up! We started off....             It was a week day (Friday i think). So we were the only group. The refreashers' stalls on the way were also closed that day. We climbed only with some water with us. There was just enough light so that we could make out the way. The sky was loaded with heavy dark clouds. Sinagad was under its majestic shade. We were eager to touch those clouds and sprinted up as quick as our legs could manage! Gradually the sun's rays penetrated the thick waterlogs and that was when one of the two Mugdhas ('p

Temperament of nature

Monsoon had just crept in The soil had moistened Fresh fragrance was in the air The sky had softened. I was at a foothill At early daybreak Fondling with a fancy Of taking up a trek. I succumbed to my desire And set onto the path Enjoying the pleasant nature Hoping for a rainy bath. The clouds touched the hilltop Obscuring the twilight Ready to pour down on me So much for my delight Small creatures on my way Rushed out of shelter Trees swayed in the breeze Mist made me falter. But the sun peeped from east Crowning the mountain top Moved briskly over the ridge As a spotlight would hop. I sprinted up to reach The quick rising waterlog Which uncurtained the stage Spreading a wild wind and fog. In some time I was up there After a hearty run Looked back upon the troden road And found it glistening in the sun. I will put up the context in which the poem was written and its reference very soon...
